Fantini, Francesca (1986 - )
Italian Fumettista and Pittrice
Francesca Fantini is an Italian Artist. She began her career as a painter and animator. Growing up breathing the art of her father, a painter by profession, she nourishes and demonstrates immediately a strong passion for drawing too.
Francesca began her career in the comic book industry working with several Italian and International publishers, as interior artist, cover artist, inker, colorist, illustrator and Character design, working both traditionally and digitally, with many mediums.
Her collaborations in the recent years includes Boom Studios, Sumerian, Amp Comics, Mad Cave, Aftershock Comics, Image Comics, Top Cow, KeenSpot Entertainment, Scout Comics, Black Caravan, 215 Ink, VanBreed Studios, Advent Comics and others.
Francesca was a Ringo Awards nominee in 2025 for Best Cover Artist and Ringo Awards nominee in 2022 for Best Presentation in Design for her work on Stake.
Farmer, Joyce (1938 - )
American underground comix cartoonist
She was a participant in the underground comix movement. With Lyn Chevli, she created the feminist anthology comic book series Tits & Clits Comix in 1972. Joyce Farmer and Lyn Chevli founded Nanny Goat Productions, a feminist publishing company which they established in order to publish their own underground comix, Tits & Clits Comix. Nanny Goat Productions published seven issues of Tits & Clits Comix in total, in addition to another underground comic book titled Pandoras Box (1973).
Finger, Athena (1976 - )
American comic cook artist
"Heiress to the Dark Knight", Athena Finger has gained recognition in the industry as fighting for Milton "Bill" Finger's (her grandfather) right to receive Co-credit recognition for creating the comic book character with writer Bob Kane.
Bill Finger was responsible for creating 50-75% of the mythos of the fictional DC Comics character writing most of the scripts, and, before the character had ever been published for the first time, he had given instructions to Bob Kane to completely redesign the character, so that he looked like Batman in comics.
Bill Finger was first credited as co-creator of Batman in the October 2015 comic books Batman and Robin Eternal # 3 and Batman: Arkham Knights Genesis # 3. The updated acknowledgement for the character appeared as “Batman created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger.”
Athena Finger herself is known for For the Love of Zeus (2015) Comic Book Junkies (2020), and Dying Is Easy (2021).
She is also a supporter of local art and the arts in schools and a co-presenter of the Bill Finger Award at the Will Eisner Award Ceremony at San Diego Comic Con (now the International Comic Con)

Fite, Linda (1945 - )
American comic book writer and editor
Fite is best known for writing the entire four issue run of the Marvel Comics series The Cat (1972). She infused the series with a woman's liberation tone.
Linda Fite was hired by Marvel as an editorial assistant/production assistant. Though she continually appealed to editor Roy Thomas for writing assignments, from 1968–1971 she was given only short back-up features in The Uncanny X-Men and Rawhide Kid.
In 1972 she got her first offer to be a regular writer, on Claws of the Cat, an early and unsuccessful attempt to appeal to female superhero comic readers. Fite was selected because Marvel's editorial staff thought a series targeted toward female readers should have a female creative team.
Flenniken, Shary (1950 - )
American editor, writer, illustrator, and underground cartoonist
Flenniken is widely recognized as an influential figure in the integration of feminist concerns into underground comics. Her best-known creation is the comic strip Trots and Bonnie which appeared in National Lampoon from 1972 to 1990.
Flenniken was also an editor of National Lampoon from 1979 to 1981, and recruited many of the magazine's best-known cartoonists during that time.
Flores, Chynna Clugston (1975 - )
American comic book creator
Flores is an Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated creator who has been active in the comic book industry since 1994 working for such prolific publishers as Oni Press, Dark Horse, Marvel Comics, DC Comics and several digital comics as an editor, inker, penciller, writer, colorist, letterer and cover artist.
Flores is best known for her manga-influenced teen comedy Blue Monday (beginning 2000 with Oni Press, but appearing briefly in Action Girl Comics, Dark Horse Presents and Oni Double Feature) and Scooter Girl (2003, Oni Press). Both of her comic creations recieved a re-release from Image comics in 2016-2017.
While working for DC Comics, Flores was an assistant editor for their imprint, CMX Manga, an assistant editor for DC Comics' Wildstorm division, and DC Comics working on various licensed and Johnny DC titles, editing Looney Tunes, co-editing Tiny Titans, as well as several digital comics.
More recently, she has worked on various projects including writing the Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy crossover for BOOM! and DC, art and writing duties on a short Deadpool story for Marvel, art for DC'S Young Animal's Shade the changing girl, and published work in various anthologies, such as the successful Kickstarter projects Hey, Amateur! and Insider Art.

Foglio, Kaja (1970 - )
American writer, artist and publisher
Foglio co-won the first Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story in 2009 for Girl Genius, Volume 8: Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones, a series which went on to win two more Hugo Award.
Kaja, with Phil, founded Studio Foglio, LLC in 1995. The studio became the venue for her art prints, many of which have been produced as cards for Magic: The Gathering.
Kaja Foglio co-writes and illustrates the webcomic Girl Genius with Phil Foglio. She coined the term "gaslamp fantasy" to describe its genre of 19th century a historical fantasy.
She serves as the chief graphic designer and webmaster for the Studio Foglio and Airship Entertainment websites. Foglio also contributes to other projects, including providing the illustrations Barry Hughart's anthology of The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox.
In 2009, the Foglios and their colorist, Cheyenne Wright, won the first Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story, for Girl Genius, Volume 8: Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones. In 2010, 2011 they won the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story again. Having won the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story for three years running, Kaja, Phil, and Cheyenne announced that, in order to show that the category was a "viable award", they refused nomination for the following year (2012).

Fontana has served as writer, story editor, or EP/Co-EP on over 500 produced stories with credits in many mediums from animation to live shows to graphic novels.
She was the Executive Producer/Showrunner of Mermicorno: Starfall (26 episodes) for Atomic Cartoons/MAX and the Co-Executive Producer/Showrunner of the new Monster High (92 episodes) series for Nickelodeon and Mattel.
Additional credits include Polly Pocket (developed by, executive story editor, creative producer, 174 episodes), Action Pack (developed by, executive story editor, 40 episodes), the DC Super Hero Girls animated shorts, TV specials, movies and graphic novels; Doc McStuffins, The 7D, Whisker Haven Tales with the Palace Pets (wrote show bible and first season), Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz (story editor), and KindiKids; two Disney on Ice shows where she wrote new material for the worlds of Mickey Mouse, Inside Out, Disney Princesses, Finding Dori, Frozen, and other Disney and Pixar properties; and the live action feature film, Crowning Jules.

Forrest, Lynly
American comic book company owner, producer and editor
Forrest is one of the co-founders of the all-woman, 100% creator-owned independent comic book company Hexcomics (2014) and is the producer and editor of their ongoing fantasy series about techno-witchcraft HEX11.
Their famous and most popular title HEX11, which is the epic story of a young witch living in a futuristic dystopia where magic has been discovered as a new technology, has sold over 70,000 copies worldwide and has been picked up by the Los Angeles Public Library. It was also an inaugural nominee for the prestigious Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics.
Along with Kelly Sue Milano and Lisa K. Weber, Forrest has served as an instructor for the Comic Book Heroes class at the Otis College of Art and Design since 2019.

Fradon, Ramona (1926-2024)
American comics artist
Fradon was best known for her work illustrating the Aqua-man comic from 1951 to 1963. Drawing a feature like this for more than 100 issues was a remarkable achievement, being one of the few women working steadily at the time. She started her career in 1950 and lasted until her retirement on January 2024, just about month shy of her passing.
Fradon was also the co-creator of the DC comic book characters Aqua-lad (1959) and Metamorpho (1965).
From 1965-1972, Fradon left comics and would return to DC Comics in 1972 where later in the decade she would draw Plastic Man, Freedom Fighters, and Super Friends.
in 1980, Dale Messick retired from drawing the newspaper strip Brenda Starr, Reporter, where Fradon became the artist until her own retirement in 1995.
Fradon received the Inkpot Award in 1995.
She was inducted into the Women Cartoonists Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2006.
Free, Chandra (1981 - )
American comic book creator, illustrator and art consultant
Chandra Free identifies as an 'agender-flux woman' and who is best known as the creator of The God Machine, previously published by Archaia/BOOM and as the co-founder of publisher, Machina Corpse, where The God Machine is now published.
Chandra Free's work in comics includes Mice Templar, Graphic Canon vol 3 and vol 4 , Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock volume 2 for Archaia Entertainment, Sullengrey and the illustrated novel, Conspiracy of the Planet of the Apes. Outside of comics she has worked on storyboards for 321 Launch, cinematic storyboards for the movie The Monkey King and character designs for an animated pilot, HG Chicken and the Chronological Order.

Friedlander-Bloomfield, Barbara
American comic book writer and editor
Barbara Friedlander-Bloomfield was a DC Comics editor 1964 to 1970 and the first woman to create a lasting character for DC Comics, writer and editor Barbara Friedlander contributed to many of DC’s romance titles, but her greatest legacy was launching the teen comedy title Swing With Scooter with artist Joe Orlando in 1966. The title, featuring the titular Scooter as a teen pop music sensation stepping down to attend a normal high school, ran for 36 issues through 1972.
